Hi Lynn,

It is important for you to enjoy what you do and I can see your point. I loved the zoom workshop and learned a lot. I am retired and have limited funds but will be interested to follow along and see how I can learn from you.

All the best!

Carol

Lynne, your new direction sounds great! i am so grateful for the time we spent in one on one Zoom calls a couple of years ago. You helped me make the changes I needed in the focus and direction of my work. I am trusting in my own abilities more —and finding my own voice has been joyful. It’s been a long journey, and count myself so very lucky to have met you along the way.

Dear Lynne,

I value your style of teaching and have a full appreciation of the remote challenges for teachers. I’m a resident grandma because of my son’s railroad unpredictable work schedule and found remote school challenging both with learning and social isolation.

However i have learned to get support from weekly ZOOM time with my siblings and would enjoy establishing the same with my painting sibs.

Carmen continued, hit the wrong button😏. As to schedule, I can take my tablet with me if I’m waiting for kids, I could at least listen.

Your efforts are effective but tech stuff would be overwhelming. I understand your need to get back to “painting”.

Thank you !!!!!

I work better with a scheduled contact time.

Carmen

Dear Lynne, I am at beginner level and have used your videos to learn from. I will stay with you no matter how you plan your teaching. My goal for 2024 is to prioritize painting. Not sure how, but I am 80 years old and I need to do this.

Dear Lynne, I'm glad you're taking a new direction with your art business! I've been tuning in to your lessons before the pandemic and have shared your lessons with other seniors in our lifelong learning institute. I've always marveled that you were offering so much for free and wondered how sustainable your generosity would be. Now I see that you are taking a direction that should be more beneficial to you and I applaud you for doing so! I will continue to support you in ways that I can and would like to join your Zoom classes in the future. The senior lifelong learning group I belong to is offering hybrid art classes, i.e., face to face as well as Zoom, but it takes a tech running the Zoom part for this to occur successfully. Unless a Zoomer attending a class has a document camera (or can set up a smartphone/tablet to use as a document camera), it's hard to watch what a student is doing in response to a lesson, but it can be done. I still struggle with composition and hope that this might be a topic you could address in the future. Best wishes for an interesting and healthy new year, you deserve the best!!!---Joyce

Feels like a lot of BIG changes coming. As artists, i believe, we are especially sensitive to it. Almost every artist i know is going through some sort of upheaval, most of it in a positive way. Let's raise a New Year toast to that being the case for both of us. If you are in the Astoria area i will be having a show at Imogen Gallery in early March. www.imogengallery.com

Would love to see you there for the opening. Linden

You're not the only one to make that same observation in response to this post. I will definitely toast positive upheaval!

I live a couple hours from Astoria, but I might be able to swing a trip up there for your opening, depending on timing. I didn't see the dates yet for your particular show on the gallery website. Would you like me to pass along the date/time of the opening and exhibition in an upcoming newsletter? There are other Dragonflies in the area. Could be a fun Dragonfly meetup if you're up for being "swarmed". :) If that sounds fun to you, send me the info and I'll put it in the next newsletter. (And thanks for reminding me to revive that as a regular feature of the newsletter!)

I understand and cheer you on with your new business model! I will also be unsubscribing since I'm overwhelmed and unfocused over too many options in the past year. Also, my personal preference is for recorded classes. I wish I could support every artist that I like, but I'd go broke trying. Best of luck!

Dear Lynne,

Thank you so much for all of your hard work on our behalf! I found you during the pandemic and, like so many others, enjoy your calm teaching demeanor, and extraordinary talent. I would love to take a class or workshop with you in person, but I live in Vermont so I think I am out of luck as far as you coming close to me. I will watch your newsletter for a class that may work for me. Once again, thank you!

Thanks for all the support, everyone! I really appreciate your understanding and encouragement for protecting my health and well-being.

More on Zoom opportunities in the next newsletter, but I did want to reassure those who are worried about time zones. I have been doing one-on-one coaching with people from all over the world, so I am pretty aware of times that work for different regions (India, the Middle East and the Phillipines are some of the tough ones!).

Most of us are in the contiguous US (lower 48), Canada, Europe and Australia. This means it's not too hard to pick times that work for many Dragonflies. For example, 9-11 am here (LA time) is 12 noon - 2 pm in NYC, 5-7 pm in London and 6-8 pm in Madrid. 1-3 pm here is 4-6 pm in NYC and 8-10 am (a day ahead of us) in Sydney. 4-6 pm here is 7-9 pm in NYC, 11a-1p in Sydney and 9-11 am in Auckland. Because most of us are in the US lower 48 and Canada, almost any time I pick interrupts someone's meal times, but if you can be flexible about that (or bring a snack), it's not so hard to find times that work for many of us. When I offer a class more than once, I move the times around, so a different group has access.

We do have a few Dragonflies in India, which is harder (New Delhi is 13.5 hours ahead of here, so day and night are almost reversed), but there are still a few times that work. (Let me know if you live in one of these locations and want to attend Zoom activities. We can work together to make sure you don't get left out completely.)

Thank you for sharing your creativity and expertise over the years! I have just found you in the past year and appreciate how you share what you are thinking as you are planning and painting. I do not have a consistent practice yet with my work schedule so I will be saying good bye for now and will probably pop into your website and YouTube channel. I applaud and encourage you to make the changes that you need for your soul, creativity, and aching sitting body! All the best!!

Hi I’m terri….. I also found u during pandemic. I enjoy your easy, calm spirit when you teach. I want to stay connected with you. I am confused about …”Subset?” The newsletter? The site? Is this where you will be teaching? Showing pics? I’m not interested in writing, other than providing feedback, listening to your instructions. You are very detail orientated, I admire that, but I have failed to understand where this app comes in to art and your teachings. Can you explain more about this app, and what purpose it servers me and you! Thanks in advance… I signed up for you $40. Class, not being sure of what I would receive. In advance, thank you! I can’t wait to begin with you again!

Hi Lynn, I also found you during the pandemic. I love the way you teach. I live in Australia in the eastern time zone. I can do Australian time from 5am to 10pm. I am interested in anything you teach; the subjects are always explained in an interesting way. All the best with your more personal teaching approach.

Lynn, I’ve followed you since the pandemic and appreciate your generosity in sharing so freely your talent and expertise. I totally understand the change you need and applaud you for taking care of yourself in making these changes. I live on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington and would be very interested in taking classes on zoom. Your teaching style resonates with me and I would like to learn more from you. I eagerly await your decisions and hope I can take part in your new model of teaching. I travel quite a lot, but am usually home in the spring and summer.
